Why people choose Anderson Tuftex
- A short list to choose from. Each line holds a handful of colors, about five on average, which makes the choice easier to make at home.
- Wide boards. Up to about 10 inches wide, which shows more of each board and fewer seams.
- Seven woods. Ash, Brazilian oak, hickory, maple, pecan, walnut and white oak.
- A long warranty. The lines whose documents we hold carry Anderson Tuftex's 50 year hardwood limited residential warranty.
The floors
The main Anderson Tuftex hardwood collection holds most of the lines, 1/2 to 5/8 inch thick, from about 4-3/4 to 8-5/8 inches wide. Provincial includes a white oak parquet. TERRA is the widest here, a 3/4 inch thick white oak at about 10-1/4 inches. Artisan Oak and Valencia Walnut each stand on their own, a white oak and a walnut at about 7-1/2 inches.
Anderson Tuftex makes its boards in several countries, among them Vietnam, Malaysia, Paraguay, Cambodia and Indonesia.
The warranty, in plain terms
Anderson Tuftex backs its hardwood with a 50 year hardwood limited residential warranty, and one line with a 5 year warranty for light commercial use. The line pages link the documents we hold, and the maker's own document governs.
How we install it
Anderson Tuftex lists most of its floors for nailing, stapling, gluing or floating. We staple engineered hardwood to a wood subfloor, or glue it to a concrete slab, because a fixed floor sounds and feels like the wood it is. Wood takes on the moisture of the air around it, so the boards need time in the house before they go down.
Living with it
Sweep or vacuum, wipe spills, and clean with a hardwood cleaner the maker's guide allows. Felt pads under furniture and a mat at each door protect a finish more than any cleaner can.
Questions
Is Anderson Tuftex made by Shaw? Yes. Anderson Tuftex is a Shaw brand, with its own designs and its own warranty.
Is Anderson Tuftex solid or engineered? Every Anderson Tuftex floor we carry is engineered hardwood: a real wood top layer on a stable core, which is what lets the boards be this wide.
Can Anderson Tuftex go on a concrete slab? Many lines can, glued down. The maker lists which grades each line is approved for, and we check yours when we measure.
Can Anderson Tuftex be refinished? An engineered board can be sanded as far as its wood top layer allows, which differs by line. Ask us about the floor you choose.
