Why people choose Shaw Floors
- One maker, every room. Hardwood for the living room, waterproof vinyl for the basement and the kitchen, sheet vinyl for a laundry room, all from one maker and one set of warranties.
- Hardwood that shrugs off a spill. Repel is Shaw's water resistant engineered hardwood, made in the United States, in hickory, maple, red oak and white oak.
- Vinyl built for pets. Pet Perfect vinyl wears Shaw's PawDefense finish and comes with Shaw's own Pet Perfect Promise warranty.
- A finish for daily life. Shaw's ScufResist finish on its luxury vinyl is there for chair legs, toys and boots.
The floors
Hardwood
Two families of engineered hardwood. Repel, with thirty lines, is the water resistant one, made in the United States. The Gallery collection brings in woods you do not see every day, such as birch, eucalyptus and teak beside hickory, maple and oak, in widths from 3 to about 9-1/2 inches.
Luxury vinyl
The Luxury Vinyl Pro series is built on SPC, a rigid stone polymer core, and most of it is waterproof by Shaw's own flag. The Luxury Vinyl Classic series is built on WPC, a softer core that feels a little warmer underfoot. Most planks run 7 or 9 inches wide; some go wider.
Laminate
The Shaw Laminate Collection and Pet Perfect laminate: a hard wearing wood look at a lower cost than hardwood, floated over the subfloor.
Glue down and sheet vinyl
For rooms where a floating floor is the wrong answer, Shaw makes glue down planks, loose lay planks and DuraTru sheet vinyl in 12 foot rolls. We show these when you ask for them, because most homes are better served by a floating floor.
The warranty, in plain terms
Shaw's warranty depends on the floor. Repel hardwood carries Shaw's limited lifetime residential warranty for Repel, and much of the rest of its hardwood a 50 year limited residential warranty. Most of its floating luxury vinyl carries a residential lifetime limited warranty, some lines 15, 25 or 30 years, and Pet Perfect has its own lifetime promise. Sheet vinyl runs 5 to 20 years. Each line's own page links its warranty, and Shaw's own document governs.
How we install it
Engineered hardwood is stapled to a wood subfloor, or glued to a concrete slab. Floating vinyl and laminate click together and float, so nothing is fixed to the house, and they want a flat base under them. Glue down vinyl and sheet vinyl are glued to the subfloor, which is why they suit some rooms and not others. We tell you which fits your rooms when we measure.
Living with it
Shaw publishes care guides for its hardwood, its resilient floors and its laminate, linked below. They come down to the same habits: sweep or vacuum often, damp mop with the cleaner the guide names, and put felt pads under anything that slides.
