Privacy and terms

What we collect, and what we do with it.

Plainly, because a policy nobody can follow is the same as not having one.

What we collect

Your name, address, phone number and email when you give them to us. What you look at on this site and what you save. When you try a floor live through your phone's camera, the kind of phone and browser you use (the camera picture stays on your phone). Photos and videos you send us. And when you buy something, the details needed to take payment.

What we do with it

We sell flooring. Everything above is used to do that: to quote your job, to order your material, to turn up at the right house, and to stay in touch about work you are considering or have had done.

Photos and videos

When you upload a photo of a room, we use it to run our tools: we find the floor in it, lay the floors you choose into it, make the pictures you ask for, and keep it so you can come back to it. It opens on the device that sent it, from your link, or when you are signed in, and our showroom can see it. The location your phone writes into a photo is taken out, and we re-save the file so nothing else rides along inside it. Outside services that find the floor in a photo do part of that work for us.

Photos and videos of floors we work on, taken by our crew or sent to us by customers, and pictures made with our tools may appear in our own marketing: on this site, in our posts and in our emails. Somebody here looks at each one first. We do not show a customer's name or street address, a home left untidy, or anything personal in the room.

Sending us a photo or video means you are happy for us to use it this way. Send only pictures you took or are free to share.

Changed your mind about a photo or video? Call us or tell us at the showroom, and we will take it down and stop using it.

Pictures made with our tools are simulations. Color, size and light can differ from the real floor, and a free sample shows it in your own light.

Your link

Your link opens your rooms, pictures and saved floors on any phone or laptop, with no password, until 90 days after your last visit. Anyone you give it to, or forward its email to, can see them too, but not your email, phone or address. For family, make a view-only link on your page; it stops after 30 days. You can turn any link off on your page, and sign out of a shared computer there when you finish.

After we send your link, we email you again only when a photoreal picture you asked for is ready.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not text or email you about things you never asked about.
• We do not guess at anything about your household. We look at floors.

Text messages

If you tick the text box under the phone field when you ask for an estimate, or you text us first, we may text you about that estimate: a reply to your request, a sample on its way, a time to come and measure. If you add a mobile number for sign-in codes, we text you a code each time you ask for one, and nothing else. Those are the only texts we send to customers. Messages come from our business number, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to end them or HELP for help. Our own crew receives internal texts about new requests; each person has agreed to those and can be switched off by the office at any time.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Staff alerts go only to Powell Flooring employees who opted in themselves, on their own page in our staff app, and any of them can reply STOP to end them. The full terms for every text we send are on the Text message terms page.

Cookies and what the site remembers

The site remembers what you saved so it is still there when you come back, and it counts which pages get used so we can make the useful ones better. When you open a link we emailed you, we know it was you, and the showroom can see the floors and rooms you saved, so an estimate can start from them. We also note the town your internet connection reports, never a street address, so we know whether you are near enough for us to come and measure.
