Fifth and Main · Luxury vinyl

Fifth and Main vinyl flooring for hard working rooms

Fifth and Main, written 5th and Main by its maker, is Shaw's luxury vinyl for floors that work for a living: rentals, offices, shops, a busy mudroom or a basement that sees boots and bikes. Most of it is commercial grade vinyl glued to the subfloor, and a few lines are rigid core planks that click and float. We supply and install both.

Why people choose Fifth and Main

  • Built for traffic. Wear layers from 8 to 30 mil, and lines graded by Shaw for commercial and heavy commercial use.
  • A tough finish. Shaw finishes Fifth and Main with its ExoGuard and ExoGuard+ coatings.
  • Planks and big tiles. Planks from 6 to 12 inches wide, and tiles up to 36 inches.
  • Made in the United States and abroad. Fifth and Main lines are made in the United States, South Korea and Vietnam.

The floors

Glue down vinyl

Most of Fifth and Main: heavy commercial vinyl planks and tiles, high performance planks and tiles, a plank with an acoustic backing, and loose lay lines that go down with little or no adhesive. Glued down, a floor stays put under rolling chairs, carts and heavy shelving, which is what a commercial room needs.

Floating planks

Five lines click together and float, the way most home vinyl goes down: four SPC lines with a rigid stone polymer core, and Frontier Plus.

The warranty, in plain terms

Fifth and Main carries Shaw's commercial limited warranties, which run 5, 7 or 15 years by line, and many lines add Shaw's commercial underbed bond warranty. Each line's own page links its warranty, and Shaw's own document governs.

How we install it

Glue down vinyl is spread with adhesive and rolled flat on a smooth subfloor, so the subfloor matters even more than with a floating floor; we look at it when we measure. The floating lines click together and float. We tell you which suits the room and how it will be used.

Living with it

Sweep, vacuum and damp mop with a neutral cleaner. A commercial floor in a busy room does best with walk off mats at the doors and protectors under anything with wheels.

Questions

Who makes Fifth and Main? Shaw. Fifth and Main is one of its brands, and Shaw writes it 5th and Main.

Is Fifth and Main glued down? Most of it is, because it is made for commercial rooms. Five lines click together and float instead, and the lines above say which is which.

Can Fifth and Main go in a house? Yes, where a home room works as hard as a commercial one: a rental, a basement workshop, a mudroom. For most living spaces, a floating vinyl such as COREtec is the easier choice.

How thick is the wear layer? From 8 to 30 mil, depending on the line.
