PG Flooring solid hardwood
PG Flooring is a family owned mill in Saint-Edouard-de-Lotbiniere, Quebec, making solid hardwood floors since 1979. It dries, mills, stains and finishes its own boards under one roof. We supply and install its 3/4 in prefinished solid floors in red oak, white oak and maple, each in two widths: 3-1/4 in and 4-1/4 in.
Why people choose PG
- Boards that sit tight. PG mills its 3-1/4 and 4-1/4 in boards to within a hundredth of an inch in width and thickness and, by its own account, gives them one of the smallest edge bevels made, so a finished PG floor reads flat and smooth rather than grooved.
- A floor for generations. Every board is solid wood, 3/4 in thick. PG says its solid floors can be sanded and refinished up to seven times.
- Finished at the mill. The stain and the satin finish go on in PG's plant, so there is no finishing in your home and no waiting for coats to dry.
- Low emissions, as PG states them. PG reports its prefinished floors at no more than 10 grams of VOC per liter, and its boards in the E1 formaldehyde class.
- More choice than most mills. PG makes short runs as well as long ones, which is how it offers so many species, grades, colors and widths.
The floors we carry
Every PG floor below is 3/4 in solid hardwood (0.781 in, 19.8 mm), prefinished, nailed or stapled, and made in both widths:
- 3-1/4 in wide: boards 10 to 75 in long, 20 sq ft to a carton.
- 4-1/4 in wide: boards 10 to 81 in long, 19 sq ft to a carton.
Red oak, Pacific Grade
Eleven colors, satin finish, from the pale gray of Bromo and the soft beige of Evasion and Beauceville, through golden Natural and Yukon and warm Ancestral, to the deep browns of Oasis, Walnut Edition and Victorian. Walnut Edition is a stain on red oak, not walnut wood. Red oak is the classic American floor: open grain that takes stain evenly, Janka hardness 1290.

Grades, in plain words
A grade describes how a floor looks, not how good the wood is. PG's Pacific Grade mixes its cleaner Select and Better boards with its more varied Instinct boards, so the floor shows a lively range of color within each species, and sound knots are part of it. The Unique collection goes further: each Unique floor has a character of its own, and Jeanine's is brushed red oak with every knot accepted.
The warranty, in plain terms
PG Flooring backs these floors with its own warranty:
- Structure: lifetime. The boards are free of milling defects and grading errors.
- Finish: 35 years in a home. The satin finish is covered against wearing through, flaking or peeling, for the first owner, from the purchase date.
- Moldings: 5 years on the finish of PG moldings.
To keep it, PG asks the first owner to register the floor with PG Flooring within 30 days of purchase, keep the invoice, follow its installation and care guides, clean with its recommended products and keep indoor humidity between 37 and 45 percent. Natural character such as knots, mineral streaks and color variation, color change from sunlight, small seasonal gaps, everyday scratches and labor are not covered. Jeanine carries the lifetime structural warranty; ask us about the warranty on its finish.
This is our summary. PG Flooring's own document governs: PG Flooring warranty, December 1, 2025 (PDF). We keep a saved copy of the same document (PDF) too.
How we install it
Solid boards this narrow are nailed or stapled to a wood subfloor, so PG solid is a floor for the main level of a home and the floors above. Wood takes on the moisture of the air around it, so a solid floor needs to live in the house for a while before it is nailed down. That way it settles into your home before it is fixed in place, not after.
Living with it
PG asks owners to clean with its own products and to keep indoor humidity between 37 and 45 percent, and both are conditions of its warranty. Felt pads under furniture and a mat at each door do more for a finish than any cleaner.
Questions
Is PG solid or engineered? Solid. Every board we list is one piece of hardwood, 3/4 in thick.
Which width should I choose? 3-1/4 in is the traditional strip floor, with more seams and a busier, classic look. 4-1/4 in shows more of each board's grain with fewer seams. Both are milled to the same tolerances with the same finish, so the choice is the look you want.
Can it be refinished? Yes. PG says its solid boards can be sanded and refinished up to seven times.
Where is it made? At PG Flooring's mill in Saint-Edouard-de-Lotbiniere, Quebec, Canada.
Can I get another PG color, grade or width? PG makes many more than we list here. Tell us the one you have in mind, and we will find out whether we can get it for you.
What does it cost? It depends on the color, the width and the rooms, so we price it with a free measured quote.
