# Vintage Harvest in a modern farmhouse room

Vintage Harvest, from the Stanton Rockwood line, is a mid dark vinyl plank with a golden undertone (measured from its own picture: LRV 21). Here it is with Greek Villa walls, Alabaster trim, and Tricorn Black as the deep note, chosen by the numbers.

## Measured from its own picture
- LRV (light reflectance value, 0 black to 100 white): 21
- CIELAB (D65): L* 52.4, a* 2.4, b* 17, chroma 17.2, hue 81.9 degrees
- Undertone: a golden undertone, warm without leaning red
- The grain and color of Vintage Harvest move from board to board (a spread of 6.9 in L*), which helps hide everyday wear.

## Paint
- Walls: Greek Villa (Sherwin-Williams SW 7551, LRV 84.2, +63.7 from the floor). A soft neutral with a touch of warmth (hue 94°), so Vintage Harvest stays golden without turning yellow. Source: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/white-paint-colors/sw7551-greek-villa/
- Or walls: Simply White (Benjamin Moore OC-117, LRV 89.5, +69 from the floor). A soft neutral with a touch of warmth (hue 110°), so Vintage Harvest stays golden without turning yellow. Source: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/oc-117/simply-white
- Trim and ceilings: Alabaster (Sherwin-Williams SW 7008, LRV 82.2). 62 points over Vintage Harvest in LRV and warm enough (chroma 5.3) to read white, not blue, beside its golden undertone. Source: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/white-paint-colors/sw7008-alabaster/
- Deep note: Tricorn Black (Sherwin-Williams SW 6258, LRV 2.8). Deep and quiet, 18 points darker than Vintage Harvest in LRV, a frame for a golden floor. Source: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/neutral-paint-colors/sw6258-tricorn-black/
- Lower cabinets or an island in Tricorn Black, uppers and trim in Alabaster. The floor at LRV 21 sits between the two (3 and 82).

## Wood, rugs and metals
- Wood a step darker: a charcoal wood, like our Heritage Brown stain sample. About 18 points darker than Vintage Harvest in L* (35 against 52), far enough to read as a choice.
- Wood a step lighter: a pale, bleached wood, like our Natural stain sample. About 15 points lighter than Vintage Harvest in L* (67 against 52).
- Rug or fabric, tone on tone: oatmeal (#d0c6b9). 8 in chroma, half the warmth of Vintage Harvest (17), and 28 points lighter in L*.
- Rug or fabric, across the wheel: graphite (#3b4856). Hue 262°, straight across the color wheel from the 82° of Vintage Harvest, softened to balance it.
- Rug or fabric, grounding: charcoal (#3a352d). A deep note at L* 22, 30 points from the 52 of Vintage Harvest, so a rug keeps its edge.
- Metal: matte black. Black works with every undertone; beside Vintage Harvest at LRV 21 it gives the room its outline.
- Metal: aged brass. A warm metal that agrees with the golden undertone of Vintage Harvest (hue 82°).
- Metal: unlacquered brass. Left unsealed, it darkens with handling to a softer warm tone beside Greek Villa walls.

## Room by room
- Living room: Greek Villa walls and Alabaster trim, an oatmeal rug with a charcoal edge on Vintage Harvest, a coffee table in a charcoal wood.
- Kitchen: Tricorn Black on the island, Alabaster cabinets above, matte black pulls, Vintage Harvest underfoot.
- Dining room: A table in a charcoal wood on Vintage Harvest, chairs in a pale, bleached wood, aged brass pendants.
- Bedroom: Simply White walls, oatmeal linen, a graphite quilt, unlacquered brass on the lamps.

## What to avoid
- Walls at the lightness of Vintage Harvest: Retreat (Sherwin-Williams SW 6207, LRV 20.9) sits within a point of its LRV of 21, so wall and floor would blur into one.
- Wood that almost matches Vintage Harvest: a tone like our Rustic Beige sample, 6.0 apart (CIEDE2000), reads as a near miss. Go clearly darker or lighter.
- Walls that lean yellow: yellow on yellow flattens the golden undertone of Vintage Harvest (hue 82°).

## The room it suits
- At LRV 21, Vintage Harvest is mid dark: it is at its best in a big room with good light and warm lamps, and it shows dust, pet hair and fine scratches more than a mid tone.
- At 7 inches a board, Vintage Harvest lays about 21 boards across a 12 foot room, so the room reads open with few seams.
- Vintage Harvest is waterproof, so it belongs in kitchens, baths, mudrooms and basements as well as living spaces.
- Core: SPC, a rigid stone polymer core (firm underfoot and resists dents from furniture)
- Water: Waterproof (the maker's word) (wet mopping is fine; a flood is not)

- Paint names, codes, hex and LRV as Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore publish them (each color links to its page).
- BS 8300-2:2018 asks for a difference of at least 30 LRV points between adjacent surfaces, such as a floor and a wall, so the surfaces read apart.
